Holy Tiraths » Luv-Kush Tirath, Mundri, Kaithal
'Luv-Kush Tirath' is stated to be the place where 'Maharshi Balmiki' taught complete knowledge of 'Ramayana' to the twin sons of 'Lord Rama' and 'Mata Sita' i.e. 'Luv and Kush'. Legend states that 'Maharshi Balmiki' took a vow of complete silence thereafter. Presently, temples of 'Lord Shiva', 'Lord Hanuman' and 'Luv-Kush' exist at the spot in Village Mundri along with ghats and kunds.
Entire complex is in a dilapidated condition. Restoration work is being undertaken at a cost of Rs.250 lakh under the aegis of Kurukshetra Development Board. It is proposed to lay red Jodhpur Marbel in the entire temple complex as also around the kund (sarovar). It is also proposed to construct staircase and ghats all around the sarovar along with canopies. Canopies shall have granite flooring for pilgrims to congregate. In order to ensure regular supply of clean water, a 2 kilometre long RCC channel is also being constructed. Public toilets are being constructed for use of pilgrims. Boundary wall is also being constructed. Proper arrangements are being made for lights and sound system.
This will also prove to be a beneficial water recharge body for this entire area.
Foundation stone for this restoration work was laid on 17th January, 2011 by Ch. Shamsher Singh Surjewala and Randeep Singh Surjewala.
